Coil Cable
STS coil cable is a self-retracting, UL listed grounding cable that provides better cable management by contracting when not in use. It is designed for hard service with thermoplastic elastomer insulation and jacket, and it withstands temperatures from -40°C to +90°C in harsh environments. It is one of the two operator cable types for the STS 300 Ground Monitoring System.
How it retracts
The 25 ft coil cable retracts to 4 ft, and the 50 ft coil cable retracts to 10 ft. Coil cable is not compatible with STS retractable reel options. If you need a retracting reel, use straight cable.
Options
Coil cord is offered with or without a grounding clamp. Clamp choices on this page include the K78160A, K78160ASRS, REB-IP, CB-250IP Bronze C Clamp, Dual Ball Connector, G40 Bronze, GAT-IP and VUD.

When to replace the cable
Damaged insulation may impair the proper operation of the grounding device. The STS 300 manual calls for regular inspection of the clamp cable insulation and its termination at the clamp. The cable replacement instructions (PDF) cover removal and installation.

Can I use coil cable with a retractable reel?
No. Coil cable is not compatible with STS retractable reels. Use straight cable with a reel.
Can I order coil cable without a clamp?
Yes. CA-25 and CA-50 are coil cord only.

Straight Cable
STS straight cable is a UL listed SOOW grounding cable with excellent resistance to oil, abrasion and sunlight. It withstands temperatures from -40°C to +90°C and is compatible with the STS GW-7 and AW-7 retractable reels for safe, reliable cable management. It is the operator cable choice for the STS 300 Ground Monitoring System when the cable will be used on a reel.
Options
Straight cable is offered with or without a grounding clamp. Clamp choices on this page include the K78160A, K78160ASRS, REB-IP, Dual Ball Connector, G40 Bronze and VUD. In the STS 300 ordering guide, 100 ft lengths are available in straight cable only. If you do not see your clamp and length combination, contact STS.

When to replace the cable
Damaged insulation may impair the proper operation of the grounding device, so the STS 300 manual calls for regular inspection of the ground cable and clamp cable insulation. Replace the cable if the insulation is cut, crushed or worn through. The cable replacement instructions (PDF) walk through removal and installation with a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a 9/16 in wrench.
