Description
STS lens caps are the black anodized aluminum covers with colored glass lenses that sit on the indicator lamp assemblies of the STS 300 Ground Monitoring System. They are located on the exterior of the enclosure, so they can be installed without cutting power and without removing the enclosure cover.
Why the lens caps matter
The red and green lenses are how the operator reads the grounding status: green means a proper ground is verified and the transfer may begin, and red means the ground is not verified. A cracked or damaged lens makes that status harder to read, and the STS 300 maintenance schedule includes checking that both the red and green lens caps are not cracked or damaged.
When to replace a lens cap
- The colored glass lens is cracked, chipped or damaged.
- The cover is damaged but the lamp assembly itself is working.
Install the lens caps in the correct positions: red on the left and green on the right. Incorrect installation of the lens caps is listed in the STS 300 troubleshooting table as a cause of a green light showing when the system is not attached to a vehicle or drum. If the lamp body itself is damaged, replace the complete lamp assembly instead.

What is the difference between a lens cap and a lamp assembly?
The lens cap (ST-1-GC or ST-1-RC) is the cover and colored lens only. The complete lamp assembly (ST-1-GA or ST-1-RA) is the full indicator light.
